Who is represented?
I think young girls around the age of 3-7 that like to play with ponies are represented.

How are they represented?
They are represented as there is a lot of the colour pink in the advert and young girls are actually in the advert playing with the toy. Also, they are represented as being happy when they are playing.

Connotation, Denotation and Representation 

Denotation: 

• A man, women and child holding hands
• The sun shining over the hills
• Lots of hills and greenery
• The family are walking towards the lake
• Everyone in the picture is wearing short sleeve tops
• The sun is reflecting of the water 

Connotation: 

• The man and the women are both holding the child's hand - this connotes that they are a family and are spending time together
• The sun is shining over the hills - this connotes that this picture was taken around summer time because the sun is out and its a nice day
• There is lots of hills and greenery - this connotes that the family could be in the countryside or could be on a holiday. 
• The family are walking towards the lake - this connotes that because it was such a nice day, the family wanted to spend time together and sit by the lake
• Everyone in the picture is wearing short sleeve tops - this connotes that it was a hot day
• The sun is reflecting of the water - this also connotes it was a sunny day as you can see that the sun is reflecting.

Media Product

Matilda: 

The film i would recommend to watch is called Matilda. This is because it has a great story line and some parts are funny. I think the film is more for younger children as they might relate to Matilda and how she has grown up being controlled by horrible parents. 

I think Matilda is a great character considering how old she is. She is so sweet and innocent however has grown up with a horrible family. Lastly, I would recommend  it because although the story is quite sad, the ending is amazing and Matilda gets what she wants and soon ends up how she wants to live, in a happy life without her family. 

Why I Chose GCSE Media Studies...

I chose GCSE media studies because I was interested to see how the media works. I saw some of the movie trailers previous media classes had made and I thought it would be interesting as it looked really good. I also chose it because I thought whatever I learnt would help me in the future and I would find things out that I never knew before. I thought that media could also improve my literacy skills and a variety of other skills that I can use. Creating websites, making my own film trailers and creating my own magazine covers are topics that look great to do and it gives us a chance to be creative and show off our ideas that we have. By knowing how the media operates, will give me the chance to be more skillful and engage with other topics that interest me. By doing the course, I will get the chance to learn how to analyse how media products are constructed. I also chose to do media studies GCSE because I knew that I would have the chance to work independently on some projects however will also get the chance to work as a team to come up with good ideas on others.
